The heyday of the Roman Empire is known not only for its high technological achievements, but is also marked by an actively growing interest in winemaking. As we know from ancient history, the Romans had a special taste for spicy wines, praising alcoholic drinks for their miraculous healing properties. The most famous variety of wine of that time was called Conditvm Paradoxvm or “Spice Surprise” - it was this wine, generously seasoned with spices, that was especially revered during the reign of Emperor Nero, and it was the main treat during the moments of celebrations and shameless orgies at which guests they allowed themselves not only unbridled debauchery, but also intoxicating drink.
