Bio-Oil is a leading brand of cosmetic products aimed at combating imperfections.
The products are manufactured by the South African company Union Swiss (Pty) Ltd.
The company's founder, chemist Dieter Beyer, had been researching the properties of oils and their effects on human skin since the 1970s. He wanted to develop a product that would not only solve the problem of dry skin but also provide a restorative effect. In 1987, Bio-Oil cosmetic oil was launched. The product formula remains unchanged to this day.
At the beginning of the 21st century, Bio-Oil entered the international cosmetics market. In just 10 years, it reached consumers in over 50 countries and became a bestseller in the category of products for combating scars, stretch marks, pigmentation, and signs of aging.
The success of Bio-Oil oil spurred further research at the company, working with scientists from around the world. In 2010, a new laboratory opened, focusing on the study of oil-based products. In 2018, a gel with an innovative formula was released under the Bio-Oil brand. The product has been clinically proven to significantly improve skin hydration.
